The Clan Begins to Grow

The sun had only set an hour ago, and the Clan members assigned to patrol tonight had yet to begin that. So the courtyard of the castle is empty when Elisa materializes back in it. Materialized with company. Company that going to be moving in.
She'd met a hatchling in the Nexus. One that was undoubtably from this universe. And one very much in need of a Clan and a place to call home. So she'd done what any of them would have done: invited him to join them. Gargoyles looked after their own, after all.
She did, however, realize rather belatedly that she should have told him that the Castle was on top of a skyscraper. Still, she presses on, calling out, "Guys! Come on out here! There's someone here you need to meet!"
And so they come. Brooklyn, Lexington, and Broadway. Angela. Hudson, with Bronx on his heels. And, of course, Goliath.
Needless to say, all are quite shocked.

Elisa tries, with less success than she'd like, to hold back a chuckle. She settles for hiding it behind her hand. "Yeah. Kinda hard to believe sometimes."

Date: 2007-03-18 06:11 am (UTC)Goliath takes that moment to interrupt. "As much as I hate to break up this pleasant moment," he says, "there are still many hours until dawn and we have not run any patrols. We should still do so."
"You wanna come with me, kiddo?" Elisa asks. "I can give you the ten-cent city tour. Nice, no trouble route so you can kinda see what things are like?"

Date: 2007-03-18 06:49 am (UTC)He pauses the nods greatfully. "I'd like that alot." And it would give him some time to think over the different things he had learned recently.
((And I so need bed.))

Date: 2007-03-18 07:26 am (UTC)A short time later, Brooklyn, and Broadway had left as one patrol group, while Goliath, Angela, and Lex had made up another. Hudson had retreated with Bronx to the TV room of the castle.
Which left Elisa and Gregory looking out over the city. "You going to be okay gliding from this high up?" she asks.

Date: 2007-03-20 01:46 pm (UTC)He nods lightly. "I should be. I've always been pretty good at glding. Besides, aren't there plenty of rooftops in case I need to take a break?" He thought he'd do fine up in the air.

Date: 2007-03-20 08:42 pm (UTC)"More than plenty," Elisa says, with a grin. She spreads her wings and takes a leap off the building, gliding in a slow arc back around, so she can watch Gregory.

Date: 2007-03-20 10:19 pm (UTC)He jumps off fairly well. It helps he has more room to take off. With the flar of his fairly board wings, he's definatly catching some wind.

Date: 2007-03-20 10:55 pm (UTC)Good. Geeze, how had she not noticed how big his wings were? Just more proof that Gargoyles came in all shapes and sizes. "Just follow me, kiddo," she says, angeling off and getting some foreward momentum going.

Date: 2007-03-20 11:04 pm (UTC)Mostly because he kept them close to his back most likely. It was actually a clan trait. Most clans had one trait that was there. Even if it didn't appear all the time.
"Kay!" He follows after her. For now just taking in the very strange sights of the city.

Date: 2007-03-20 11:25 pm (UTC)If a clan of one can be said to have traits, Elisa's got that going for her too. Largely in the form of lacking distinctive traits the way most other clans had.
As they go, Elisa points out some of the sights. The World Trade Center. The Empire State Building. After a little while, they stop, alighting on top of a roof across from a very familiar, though still mostly destroyed building. "That's the clock tower," she says. "It's where we used to live."

Date: 2007-03-20 11:37 pm (UTC)It really is like watching a little kid. He got excited and spun around a few times. Which probably wasn't smart, his center of gravity wasn't the same as other Gargpyles. But he was fine. Only sweeping up and down a few feet in his excitment. But then he just beams at the Cloack Tower. "I like it. Reminds me of the old Chruch near the farm."

Date: 2007-03-20 11:55 pm (UTC)"It was home for a long time," Elisa says. "But now we've got the castle, and that's home now."
The sounds of struggle perk up her ears. Couple of alleyways over. She's heading toward it out of instinct, not even thinking if Gregory might be following.
Dammit. Two of them, one of her... It was a mugging. "I'll handle this," she says. "Stay up here."
no subject
Date: 2007-03-20 11:59 pm (UTC)Which might be good. Seeing as he really is too young to see stuff like that up close. Or at least a few months training so he understands it better than stories about people he hasn't met.

Date: 2007-03-21 12:47 am (UTC)The woman is, of course, screaming by this point, now more afraid of Elisa that the muggers.
The other aproaches Elisa warily, but she pounces on him before he can get close, and in a moment, she's tied the end of the near-by fire escape around him.
What she hadn't realized, though, was that there were not two muggers. There are three.
The other manages to get the drop on her, slamming the lid of a trash can again the back on her skull and knocking her down...

Date: 2007-03-21 12:57 am (UTC)If the kick lands in just the right spot the angle would send the mugger face first into the trashcans. Of course Gregory didn't know that. He didn't know the mechanics of fighting. Just that he couldn't sit by.

Date: 2007-03-21 01:36 am (UTC)Elisa is already recovering, getting to her feet dispite the ringing in her ears. Of course, the fact that the woman is now screaming even more, now that the number of Gargoyles has doubled, is not helping.
"Please... calm down," Elisa says. "We're not going to hurt you."
"You... can talk?" Surprise overrides fear.
"Yes. We can talk. Just like you. We're not going to hurt you. We're just going to climb on out of here and be on our way. But do everybody a favor and call 911, okay? There's a payphone over there..." She points off to a spot a little off the mouth of the alley.
The woman starts to move, and pauses, for just a moment, at the mouth. "Thank-you," she says, before moving out of sight.

Date: 2007-03-21 01:54 am (UTC)Yeah restating the obvious to Elisa. But the young Gargoyle can't help it. She was Clan! Didn't that mean he had to help her out? Watch her back and stuff?
"Are...You ok?"
no subject
Date: 2007-03-21 02:04 am (UTC)Yeah, she should probably be telling him he needed to have stayed put, but what kid's doing to listen to that? Besides, it wasn't like he was a human kid, but a Gargoyle one. And the others had talked before about how much sooner hatchlings accepted responsibility and learned to fight than human kids did.
"I'll have a headache 'till dawn, but nothing a day's sleep won't fix," she says.

Date: 2007-03-21 02:15 am (UTC)Yeah, he did do lotts of chores back at the farm. And had been studying a great deal. It was just that he wasn't supposed to fight. After all his Dad didn't want him to fight if he didn't know how.
"That's good. Better than something worse," he says while glancing towards the street. "We should get up to the roof. The cops might come and...Um, I think they might not be so understanding."
no subject
Date: 2007-03-21 02:21 am (UTC)Might depend on the cop, but Gregory can meet Matt at a more structured time. So Elisa just nods and starts to climb. "Yeah. Let's head back to the Castle. I think you've had enough excitement for one night."
