She nods. "Started looking for some patterns in the missing persons cases and conferenced with Derek and the Labyrinth. The homeless see a lot of things, but not many people listen to them. Fortunately, we do. Most of the cases took place in the gaps in our patrol routes."

A sigh. "We try to cover the entire island, of course, but there's spots we miss, spots we concentrate on because they're higher crime neighborhoods, that kind of thing. Thailog probably figured enough of it out--even with variations--to know where and when to slip between us."
